JOY TO THE ROAD TRIPS!

Looking to travel during the holiday season? Consider going on a road trip!

Why planning a road trip for the holiday season?

Let’s get real, it is often a drag to plan a trip during the holiday seasons. Airports are too often overcrowded with stranded passengers waiting for yet another delayed flight, trains and cruise ships are packed, waiting time everywhere is plain awful… Plus, you don’t want to run the risk of catching yet another seasonal flu or worse mingling with thousands of weary travelers.

Want to avoid all that chaos? Take a road trip!

You can leave and be back on your own terms, with way less stress and more flexibility than any other type of transportation. Freedom is the key word here, as you can change activities or destinations on the go and adapt to the weather or passengers’ likings.

You can choose your accomodations day to day in motels, hotels, RBnBs or campings, or get last minute deals on apps or websites such as www.hoteltonight.com. Make sure to book the 24th and 31st in advance if you need though, as those nights tend to get full rather quickly.

I’ve always found road trips to be convenient because you’re not limited to what you can bring along with you. Want to carry batteries, matches or bicycles? Feel free to do it! You can pack extra with no charge: passengers, food, toys and other things you might need (holiday gifts anyone?), even extra blankets and pillows, and you’ll feel just like home cruising in your car.

On top of that, we can list:

  • Camping as a thriftier solution
  • You can bring homemade food the first days
  • Snacks for kids and grown ups always available
  • Meet friends and family somewhere in the middle
  • Even if gas goes up, it’s still a lower priced option (look for lower prices on specific apps or websites like buddy.com)
  • Still a kids’ favorite!
  • Easier to bring your pets along

My Pros

  • Flexibility, real money-saver, convenience
  • The journey is as much (if not more) fulfilling as the destination…
  • A real thrill for kids, bring your presents along with you!

My Cons

  • Snowy and/or icy road conditions, shorter days
  • Managing driver’s fatigue

So, why don’t you pack up your stuffs now and set off for the road trip of your choice? And guess what? It can also make for a perfect gift for this holiday season! If you want to give your loved ones this original surprise, I can help you out too!

Where to?

You can always cruise all the way to your folks’ place to spend some quality family time. If driving an RV like 12% of leisure travelers this coming holiday season, you can use it as a perfect guest accomodation!
